1. How do I become a mystery shopper?

 Simply complete the online application form by hitting the ‘Apply Now’  button on this page or click here  to apply now. 

2. What does mystery shopping involve?

The purpose of mystery shopping is to assess the standards of service provided to customers. We call mystery shops 'assignments' and they may involve you making a telephone call or visiting a location to evaluate the service provided. Sometimes these assignments may ask you to use and assess websites and even home delivery services.

Some mystery shopping assignments also need you to make a purchase and / or a return. If we need you to do this, we will give you the details, including any reimbursements, in the assignment offer.

Once you have completed your assignment, we will ask you to key your results online within 24 hours of the mystery shop, unless otherwise specified in your assignment briefing.

 3. How long will each mystery shopping assignment take?

The length of time each assignment takes will vary depending on the type of mystery shop that it is. Generally, assignments take no more than 30 minutes to complete. In addition to this is the time taken for you to familiarize yourself with the questionnaire and briefing, and to submit your results on the web.

 4. How often will I be offered mystery shopping assignments?

The type of work we undertake often requires matching the customer profile of our clients so the number of assignments offered to you will vary depending on your profile. The more information we hold for you the more likely we are to be able to offer you assignments.

 5. How will I know if there are any assignments in my area?

We will contact you as soon as there are assignments available in your area that match your profile. This is likely to be via email or telephone.

6. Do I have to accept every assignment you offer me?

No - you can choose which assignments you would like to accept and it is not compulsory to accept every one that you are offered. Please only accept those assignments that you are sure you can complete.

7. Will I need to complete assignments on a specific day and time?

Yes – when you are offered an assignment we will tell you when it needs to be completed. When you accept the assignment, you will need to check the time of day the assignment must be completed and then confirm which date you will do it. If, once you have accepted an assignment and you find that you cannot meet the timelines, please contact us straight away, as in some cases, we may be able to change the date and time.

8. When do I have to return my results?

All results must be keyed into our online system within 24 hours of the mystery shop taking place, unless otherwise specified in your assignment briefing. We reserve the right to withhold any or all of the shopper fees to be paid to you if you do not return your results in the specified time period.

9. How do I return my results?

To return your results log on to your account and go into ‘Shop Log’. Then simply find the relevant assignments

10. How much will I be paid?

The amount we pay per assignment varies depending on its length and complexity. We will always tell you how much we will be paying you when we offer you the assignment.

11. How will I be paid?

We will pay you directly into your nominated bank account via electronic transfer (BACS). You can change which bank account you are paid in to by logging on to your account and going to the 'My Profile' section of the site.

12. When will I get paid?

All completed assignments must pass our quality control before being paid. To ensure you don't wait more than 4 weeks for your payment, we process payments twice a month, on the 1st and 15th working day (funds should be available in your account 2-3 working days after this).

13. Do I need to keep a receipt?

If you are required to make a purchase as part of your assignment, you will need to keep your receipt. You may need to send us your receipt or provide us with receipt details, as proof of your visit.

14. How long do I have to keep my completed questionnaire?

You must keep your printed paperwork and any receipts for at least three months after the visit in case we have any queries.

15. Am I employed by Grass Roots?

No – you are not employed by Grass Roots. You act as a consultant in respect of the assignments that you complete for us and we will not deduct PAYE or National Insurance from the fees that we pay you.
Please note that you are responsible for declaring your earnings to the Inland Revenue. On request we can supply details of all sums paid to you within the relevant tax year.


Terms & Conditions:

Our Terms and Conditions of Appointment apply to all mystery shopping assignments which you undertake on behalf of Grass Roots Performance Services India Private Limited. (Referred to as “we” and “us” below). Please read through them carefully before accepting them. The terms and conditions may be revised by us from time to time at our discretion.
1. All work that you undertake for us is strictly confidential and you agree that, under no circumstances, will you reveal yourself as a mystery shopper or disclose any information relating to your assignments to a third party.
2. You must not accept the assignment if you or any of your family or associates work for or have worked for, or are known to the organization that we have asked you to mystery shop.
3. You agree that you will carry out each assignment strictly in accordance with the terms of the briefing that we supply to you and within the dates and times specified. If you require clarification of any of the details, please contact us.
4. You will perform your obligations with reasonable care and skill and to the best of your ability and will not do anything to damage our business reputation and interests.
5. You agree to complete all questionnaires fully, accurately and honestly.
6. You agree to key results of assignments online and within 24 hours of the assignment taking place. We reserve the right to withhold payments for results returned outside these timescales.
7.If we have reasonable cause to believe that you have not fully abided by all of these Terms & Conditions, including failure to return results of assignments within the specified timescales, failure to conduct the assignment as briefed, or any questionnaire completed by you contains misleading or false information, we reserve the right to withhold payment for the assignment and remove you from our mystery shopping panel immediately.
8.We will pay you a fixed fee for each assignment that you complete in accordance with the briefing instructions. You will be notified of the fee prior to commencing the assignment and at the same time we will agree the amount of any additional expenses that you may incur in carrying out the assignment (for example the purchasing of goods). The fixed fee together with any agreed additional expenses will be paid directly to your bank account. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in us withholding payment for work completed.
9.These terms and conditions do not form a contract of employment between you and us. You will be acting as a consultant in respect of the assignments that you undertake for us and we shall deduct TDS as per the Income Tax Laws of Government of India, wherever applicable. You are entirely responsible for declaring your earnings to the Income Tax Authority. For your information, if so requested by the Income Tax Authority, we are required to supply details of all sums paid to you during the relevant tax year.
10.We cannot guarantee the number of assignments which may be offered to you whilst you are registered as a mystery shopping panelist.
11.Privacy Policy - When you apply to become a mystery shopping panelist we will require you to complete a Panelist Application Form. We need this information in order to select appropriate panelists to carry out assignments. Any personal data that we collect will be stored on computers or otherwise and we are committed to protecting the security and privacy of that data. We may disclose your information to our professional advisers for the purpose of obtaining professional advice or if we have a legal obligation to do so. You have the right to see personal data that we keep about you and this will be supplied to you on receipt of a written request and payment of a fee.
12.Termination by you: If you no longer wish to be a panelist, please contact us and request that no further assignments are offered to you.

Termination by us: If we have reasonable cause to believe that you are failing to abide by these Terms and Conditions, we reserve the right to remove your details from our mystery shopping panel and no further assignments will be offered to you.
